Obituary of Wayne Thomas Gibson
May 21, 1948 – April 10, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend on April 10, 2024 at the Friendly Manor Nursing Home in Deseronto peacefully with family by his side. Predeceased by his parents Wallace and Gladys Gibson and sister Shirley Armstrong. He is survived by his loving wife Janice, children Troy Gibson (Pamela), Cher Powers (Kevin) and Amy Gibson (Tim), grandchildren Nolan and Nelson Powers, Halle and Owen Gibson and Mason Geen, brother Clifford, extended family and many dear friends.
Wayne loved being around family, spending time outside and any time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing ball and hockey in his younger years but his favorite passion in recent times was travelling around with family to watch and support his grandchildren on the ball diamonds, soccer fields, dance recitals, horse shows and in the hockey rinks. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman throughout his entire life and a long standing member of the Bear Lake Hunt Club.
The family would like to thank Dr. Reynolds and the staff at the Friendly Manor Nursing Home for their kindness, support and comfort they provided for his end of life care. The family will receive friends at Payne Funeral Home in Odessa on Friday, April 19th from 2-4 pm. A family service will follow. For those desiring, donations to Parkinson Canada or Ducks Unlimited Canada would be appreciated by the family.
