It is with tremendous sadness that Donna’s family announce her sudden passing on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at the age of 72. Caring and loving mother of Michael, David and Megan, and adoring grandmother of Willow and Wyatt. Predeceased by her parents Rebecca and Raymond Samson. Dear sister of Marlene (Mike), Diane (Bernie), Guy (Sharon), Linda (Gary), Laverne (John) and Chris (Shelley). Also missed by many nieces and nephews and their families.

 

Donna was born on December 13, 1951 in Flat Island, Newfoundland. Once she graduated and became an RN, her and a few others travelled west eventually stopping in Kingston, Ontario. This stop lasted for over 45 years where she became a dedicated nurse at Hotel Dieu Hospital and Kingston General Hospital. She formed many friendships with her nursing colleagues and spoke of them often. She will be greatly missed.

 

The family will receive friends at Payne Funeral Home in Odessa on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 2 – 4 pm. A family burial will be held back home in Newfoundland at a later date. For those desiring, memorial donations to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) would be appreciated by the family.

Many years Donna and Megan came to Hawkins Haven so that Megan could learn how to ride. Later, when the family wanted to purchase their own horse, (Poison) Ivy proved to be a great prospect and a blessing beyond compare! Donna, you were the inspiration! Megan, you we so blessed and loved!
