The family of Brooke are sad to announce his sudden passing at home on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the age of 43. Loving son of Laura and Randy Steinpatz. Cherished brother of Brittany Pain (Chris) and proud uncle of Anthony. Deeply missed by his aunts and uncles; Carol, Donna, Brian (Laura) and Eric (Hilda) and by many cousins, extended family members and friends. Predeceased by his aunt Sharon and uncle Darren.

 

Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at Payne Funeral Home, 178 Main St., Odessa, Ontario K0H2H0 (613-386-7373) on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 5 – 7 pm., with Words of Remembrance at 6 pm.

 

For those desiring, memorial donations to a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.

My fond memories of Brooke are the times we spent hanging out snowmobiling, boating, jetskiing and riding anything else that had a motor on it or in it. But my fondest memory of Brooke is and will always be a herorowic memory of him. Something that everyone should know about Brooke is that he was a real hero at least once in his lifetime. One time I was at his house having dinner with Brooke, his former girlfriend Jessica Bennett at the time, and another friend of his Robbie and myself. Suddenly, while eating, I found myself choking with food stuck in my throat so badly that I couldn't breathe or speak. I stood up and looked at Brooke, pointed to my throat, then motioned the hemlic maneuver with my arms. Brooke immediately jumped up, realizing I was in trouble and started performing the hemlic on me, and after a few tries, he was successful at dislodging the food I was choking on. Then I was able to catch my breath and breathe again. Thank you I said to Brooke, "You saved my life my friend." If it wasn't for Brooke's quick actions that day, I may not have survived. Rest in peace my dear friend Brooke, your friend always David Dishart.
