Obituary of Marlene Frohlich (Stein)

Please share a memory of Marlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

April 8, 1934 – December 14, 2022

It is with great sadness, we announce Marlene’s sudden passing at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre. Born in Opperzau, Germany 1934, she met her late husband, Fred in Siegen. They fled war torn Germany and immigrated to Canada in the mid-1950s to seek an adventurous life. Marlene learned to speak English, raised three children and helped in every aspect of running their farm. She had hobbies including sewing, horseback riding, painting, gardening and antiquing. For several years, she taught candle making classes and was active on the historic committee (LACAC) of Bath. During the summers, she operated Stella Lodge Antiques and hosted local artists. In the 70s and 80s, she enjoyed a successful career in real estate, followed by more than 20 winters spent in Key Largo. In her final years, she enjoyed spending respite at the Waterford and making new friends.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Fred and dear son Michael. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Patty (Fred) and son Fred (Susan). Omi to Mitchell, Austin, Jonathan and Cheryl and dear sister of Rolf Stein (Barbara). Also lovingly remembered by her nephews, great grand children and many friends as well.

A celebration of a very full life, well lived, will be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, for those desiring, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to Payne Funeral Home, 178 Main St., Odessa, Ontario K0H 2H0 (613-386-7373).

I was so surprised and saddened to see Marlene's notice in the paper. I had been thinking of her a lot recently. I was planning to call her to get together for a coffee when I was in town right around Dec 14th but couldn't locate her phone number. Now it is too late for the coffee but she will always be remembered with a smile. She was a wonderful person who loved to laugh. I hope the family can gain strength in their memories. C. A. Cavers
