Obituary of Barbara Brown (Merkley)

Barbara Anne Brown (formerly Truscott), passed away peacefully at the L&A County General Hospital in Napanee with her husband and children by her side on Saturday, October 5, 2024, in her 79th year. Loving wife and best friend of Robert Brown. Greatly missed by her children Bill Truscott, Angela Brant (late Mike), Jo-Anne Truscott, Leona Lloyd (Donald), Tammy Bobbie (Mike) and Rob Brown. Also sadly missed by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Barbara is survived by her sister Dorothy Sagriff (late Don). Predeceased by her parents Gladys and Charles Merkley, and siblings Phyllis Leveque (late Alf), Muriel Truscott (late Vick), Thelma Simmons (late Ray), Harold Merkley (Bonnie, late Helen), Audrey Stone (late Don) and Howard Merkley. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families.

The family will receive friends at Payne Funeral Home, 178 Main St., Odessa on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 5-7 pm. Cremation will follow. A private family Graveside Service will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Napanee at a later date. For those desiring, memorial donations to the Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Long time friend. Too many memories to share. Our most frequent memory will be this past Wednesday night while Barb was in the hospital and Don tormenting the heck out of her as he usually does. It was good to see her laugh even with so much weighing on her mind. Rest in peace my dear friend and some day the 4 of us will come back to White Chapel and smelt fish without hurting ourselves!
